Iona joined Architype in 2013. Throughout her career Iona has pursued a specialism in sustainable design, and is part of Architype's Research and Innovation Team. Combining this interest with Pro Bono work, Iona works with EcoHouse Initiative in Cambridge.
Since joining Architype Iona has worked as Project Architect on the Horsenden Primary School project in Ealing, West London, and within the combined-office team delivering the Agar Grove Passivhaus residential scheme in Camden.
Amongst a wide range of projects completed prior to joining Architype, Iona was part of the Architectural team delivering the Crouch Hill Community Park, which included the BREEAM Outstanding Ashmount School and a biomass district heating system. Other projects of note are the conversion of the Howick Place Sorting Office in Victoria into an arts complex, designs for the Greenwich Creekside Village West residential development, the Cambridge University Maxwell Research Centre, and the 16,000sqm Cardiff and Vale College.
Iona also won a national competition for designing a Passivhaus primary school in Nottingham, came joint 2nd in The Brief national competition for her design of the Second Dartford Bridge and was finalist in the Scottish Scenic Routes 2014 competition.
Iona completed her Part III, at the Architectural Association. Prior to that, she studied Environmental Design in Architecture (MPhil) at the University of Cambridge; and Architecture & Environmental Design (MEng) at The University of Nottingham. She also has a BA honours in Graphic Design New Media from the Surrey Institute of Art & Design.
