Energy Consultant and Building Services Engineer
Alan Clarke is an energy and building services engineer with extensive experience of low energy and ecological construction, specialising in Passivhaus design since 2007. Alan’s ability to simplify building services and influence building design to minimise the need for energetic intervention has led to many highly successfully performing schemes.
Projects include housing developments to both Passivhaus and AECB silver standard. Highlights include the Passivhaus Trust Award winning Lancaster Cohousing; a Passivhaus scheme with Architype for Shropshire Housing Association in Much Wenlock, and a 15 flat EnerPHit retrofit in London.
Examples of non-domestic projects include the CIBSE Award winning Bushbury Hill and Wilkinson Primary schools in Wolverhampton. Alan has also helped to deliver the RIBA award winning River Studio Passivhaus retrofit workspace and worked closely with Architype on the specialist energy design for Hereford Archive and Records Centre and Duxford Paper Store for Imperial War museum.
Alan is a strong advocate for detailed post occupancy monitoring and feeding this back into the next generation of buildings.
