Hazel has over 20 years’ experience collaborating with a series of award-winning practices, joining Architype’s Edinburgh studio in 2021. Hazel brings curiosity and passion for informed, well-designed, practical proposals, focussing on delivering outstanding projects.

With a rigorous attention to detail, Hazel has delivered a diverse collection of high quality new-build, renovation and refurbishment projects across a wide range of sectors including arts and culture, community, conservation, commercial, residential and education.

During her time in Australia, Hazel specialised in premium specification residences and complex multi-residential mixed-use developments and had worked on a number of school projects.

Returning to the UK, Hazel helped to develop the strategic direction for implementing renewable technologies across a local authority estate to achieve renewable energy, carbon reduction and economic development targets.

Education

While studying for her BSc(Hons) degree in architecture at Robert Gordon University, Hazel represented RGU at an international workshop in Grenoble, France; volunteered to renovate a National Trust for Scotland-owned Black House; and spent a year in France gaining experience on schools, hospitals, mixed-use and residential developments.

After gaining her diploma in advanced architectural design at Strathclyde University, Hazel qualified as an architect in 1999.
