Kim Huynh
Architectural Assistant & Passivhaus Designer
BSc (Hons), MArch (Hons)
Kim joined Architype’s London studio in 2022 as a Part 2 architectural assistant. Kim has experience in residential projects including low embodied carbon and low energy council housing to Passivhaus standard.
Since joining Architype, Kim has been producing extensive Passivhaus Planning Packages (PHPPs) for University of Exeter student accommodation which when completed will be one of the largest certified Passivhaus projects in the UK. She is keen to work on more large scale and challenging typologies to extend the benefits of highly efficient building performance.
Education
Kim studied for her Part 1 and Part 2 at the University of Bath, graduating in 2019 and 2021 respectively. Her thesis project explored a rehabilitative prison for drug offenders in Dundee, challenging the UK prison system to move towards humanity, education and mental wellbeing. She qualified as a Passivhaus Designer during the COVID-19 pandemic, inspired by the need for higher standards in air quality, thermal comfort and low operational energy.
