Kirstin Assheton

Associate and Passivhaus Designer
MA(Hons) MArch

Kirstin is a qualified architect and Certified Passivhaus Designer.

She joined Architype’s Edinburgh studio in 2020 bringing particular experience of higher education, residential and primary healthcare projects. Her experience includes several refurbishment projects, including working on listed and historic buildings.

As well as experience from several practices in the UK, Kirstin has worked as a volunteer with an NGO in India, where she worked on the development of housing designs.

At Architype Kirstin is project architect for the first Passivhaus secondary school in Scotland, Currie Community High School in Edinburgh.

Education

Kirstin completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Edinburgh, gaining a first class honours degree, before undertaking MArch studies at the University of Sheffield. She completed her postgraduate certificate in professional practice (Part 3) in 2011 at the University of Cambridge. In order to further develop her expertise in sustainable design, Kirstin qualified as a Passivhaus Designer in 2020.
