Sam is a qualified architect with a diverse range of award-winning projects across multiple sectors, including further education, healthcare, sports, mixed-use commercial and residential.
He has a keen interest in projects with a positive social agenda, focusing on community engagement, sustainable urban regeneration and meaningful placemaking.
Sam joined Architype in early 2021 having worked for a number of large-scale practices in Scotland and Australia, and living and working in France. Most recently he has delivered a large-scale residential development for a housing association in Edinburgh and was the project coordinator for the Scottish entry for the Venice Architecture Biennale 2020.
Since joining Architype, Sam is working as part of the team delivering a series of Passivhaus schools across Scotland.
Sam graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a Bachelor in Architecture followed by a Masters in Architecture, becoming a qualified architect in 2016. During his studies Sam spent a year in practice in Australia.
In addition to his work at Architype, Sam is a regular visiting critic at the University of Edinburgh and Newcastle University.
