Architect & Passivhaus Designer
Tom brings over 20 years experience of various sectors of the construction industry including 5 years working in the building trade.
His passion for timber and low energy buildings is evident in his work as Project Architect and Passivhaus Designer. Starting at Architype in 2004, Tom has worked over a variety of projects including: office buildings in Ankara, Turkey; international design competitions; UK visitor centres; a Passivhaus housing development in Camden and private residences around Herefordshire.
His mainstay of educational work has included many completed school projects including designing, detailing and analysis for one of the UK's first Passivhaus Primary schools, Bushbury Hill Primary and Architype’s second-generation Passivhaus school, Wilkinson Primary. Tom is currently the Project Architect for Ysgol Parc y Tywyn, a new build Passivhaus school in Carmarthenshire.
Tom studied architecture at Leeds Metropolitan and the University of Brighton, and completed his part III at the University of Birmingham. Tom was one of the first participants of the AECB Carbonlite Passivhaus course run in Plymouth.
